Government Services

The Heart of Wisconsin Committee Leadership program completed its fourth session on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at the Wood Country Court House facilitated by Jason Gruenenberg. This day was filled with community leaders from various areas within the local government. They provided information that helped participants gain a better understanding of local government and its involvement.

The morning included a thorough tour of the Wood County jail observing some of the day-to-day operations, a visit to the Circuit Court with Judge Todd Wolfe, and a panel discussion with Patrick Testin, 24th District Senator, Arne Systrom, Town of Grand Rapids Chairman and Kenneth Curry, Wood County Board Supervisor District 11.

The afternoon continued with a visit from the County Clerk, Human Services, Sherriff’s Department, Highway Commissioner, and the County Board Chair. These county employees provided participants with a better understanding of the responsibilities and purposes of some of the larger departments within the county. The day concluded with a conversation with Lance Pliml, Wood County Board Chair, identifying and speaking about some county issues the group wants to learn more about.

I am very thankful to be a part of this wonderful leadership program that provides such valuable information and the opportunity to learn more about the community. Today’s session, as well as the previous ones, have been informative and very beneficial. I am looking forward to our future meetings.
