Run for a Cause - Renaissance Race Against Cancer
6th
Annual Renaissance Race Against Cancer
Saturday – June 11th,
2016
Renaissance Race Against
Cancer first started back in 2011. Two Renaissance employees, Dodie Berard and
Cynde Krug, who lost their battles with cancer in late 2010, inspired the race.
As more and more of our co-workers,
friends, and neighbors are diagnosed with this disease, the annual race
provides an ongoing opportunity for all participants to honor and support
friends and loved ones also affected. All proceeds from the event provide
much-needed resources to the Patient Care Fund at the Aspirus UW Cancer Center Riverview. This fund
helps local cancer patients by removing barriers that might otherwise restrict
access to the life-saving treatment everyone deserves. It provides assistance
in the form of gas cards to allow patients to get to and from treatment,
co-pays for medicine, necessary supplies not covered by insurance, and even
things like replacement hot-water heaters if needed.
Last year, nearly 700
participants and 125 volunteers took part in the Renaissance Race Against
Cancer, raising $28,000 for the Cancer Patient Fund at the UW Cancer Center
Riverview. This year, we hope to do even more. We are excited to announce
that not only will we have a 5K Run/Walk this year, but we are adding a 10K Run as well. The Cancer Patient
Fund has no administrative expenses and no overhead. Money raised at the race goes directly to local cancer patients, and it
truly makes a difference. We hope you will be able to join us at this
event to run or walk on Saturday, June 11th. Follow the race on Facebook or Twitter to keep up on the latest news.
