Small Business Saturday November 28th, 2015

Small Business Saturday is a day to support small and local businesses. American Express, the founder of Small Business Saturday, encouraged small business owners to take charge of the day, helping them promote their businesses with free personalized ads, which appeared millions of times across the web. This year we at the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce decided to participate in promoting Small Business Saturday. Thanks to American Express we received many promotional items, such as tote bags, pet bandanas, and posters. Before deciding what to do with these items, we researched information about Small Business Saturday. While conducting this research, we stumbled upon Shop Small Selfies, selfies of customers with things they bought at small local business. These photos where then posted to social media with the hashtag #ShopSmallSelfie. It was at this time we knew how to promote Small Business Saturday. Putting a twist on the #ShopSmallSelfie we had our own Shop Small Selfie Princess go around to a few of our members and take selfies with business owners and their employees. Each business featured in the selfie received tote bags, a town crown, balloons, Shop Small arrows, postcards, buttons and more! Our #ShopSmallSelfies can be found on our Facebook and Twitter. Each business feature in our Shop Small Selfies will hand out their Shop Small tote bags, postcards, etc. to a select few customers on Small Business Saturday. Therefore, get out on November 28th and show some love for your small local business and don’t forget to share your experiences on social media using the hashtags #ShopSmallSelfie, #ShopSmall, #SmallBizSat, and #ShopWisRapids.
